Curriculum:

Lectures:
General aspects of product testing. Tasks and goal of testing. Testing scheme. Types of testing. Static testing. Basic terms and classification. Instruments for static tests. General deformation measurements: inclination measurement, slope-meters, angle measurements. Local deformation measurements: strain gauges, deformation-meters. Optical deformation measurement. Acoustic deformation measurement. Methods of instrument allocation. Dynamic testing. Basic terms and classification. Impact testing. Vibration testing. Instruments for dynamic tests: tachometers, accelerometers, amplitude-meters, frequency-meters. Application examples of dynamic testing instruments. Product testing through experimental models. Model and prototype. Principles of use for various models. Modelling precision assessment. Product testing by means of numerical models. The numerical model term. Numeric methods. Application of numeric methods in product testing. Other product testing methods. Radiographic methods. Ultrasonic methods. Magnetic methods. Penetrant testing. Visual testing. Laser-based testing. Preparing plan and report for testing. Results interpretation. Standards and regulations for product testing.
Exercises:
Laboratory exercises. During exercises, students are introduced to application of individual methods in product testing. Part of exercises are performed in laboratory, while numerical methods are performed in computer lab. Within exercises, students are obliged to write one individual seminar paper, covering application of one testing method to one particular product.
Exam:
Exam is performed orally (written/oral exam) after seminar paper is finished and defended.
